NCABA Regular Monthly Meeting
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 NCABA 3:30

The meeting was called to order by President Jeff Lantzy at 3:40pm. Those in attendance included:
Jeff Lantzy (Jeff Lantzy Insurance), Fran Filkins ( Health South), Gabby Persio (Miners Medical Center and Goodfellas), Christina Shoemaker ( Allegheny and Chesapeake Physical Therapy), Suzie McCombie (Mainline Newspapers), Tim Whited (Al’s Tire), Barb Kirby (First National Bank), Sam Taranto (DSC and American Legion), Chuck Contres (Long-Contres Funeral Home), Lynn Watt (Home Nursing Agency), David Volpe (Pennsylvania Highlands Community College), Erin Gabany(Asera Care Hospice and South Fork Welcome Home).

Barb Kirby motioned to accept February’s minutes. Chuck Contres to second the motion. All were in favor.

Finance Report: $5,149
55 paid members with 3 pending. Many new members noted.

Members to Members Expo- will be held on Thursday May 8th, 2008. Public invited to attend from 4-6pm and a networking mixer will take place from 6-8pm. The event will be heavily advertised. A flyer will be in the March Newsletter. Free to 2007 and 2008 members.

Job Expo – Erin Gabany and Christina Shoemaker to co-chair the career fair. David Volpe offered space at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Ebensburg. Erin and Christina to meet and discuss the plans. Barb Kirby and Donna Zerbee agreed to help with suggestions.

Economic Committee-
A St. Patrick’s Dance will be held on Saturday March 15 at Hope Fire Hall in Northern Cambria from 9:30 to 12:30. Doors open at 8:30. Dance tickets on sale at several locations. $12.50 in advance and $15 at the door. The dance is sponsored by the NCABA. All proceeds go to events to serve all the communities in the northern area of Cambria County including: economic development, career fairs, annual scholarship, equipment needs of local hospital.

Rock Run has changed their name to Rural Opportunity Development Partnership.

NCABA Web site – ncaba@live.com is the new website. Members are able to read the newsletter, advertise on the website. It will list all members. ncaba@live.com – supports photos and pdf’s. We will no longer be using Fran Filkins’ personal email.

Business Matters- a local magazine/newsletter featured 3 NCABA members.

Health and Wellness Fair with Miners Medical Center – Is scheduled for October 25, 2008.

Scholarship Committee – Gerry Checkon will be contacting the committee at the end of March to start planning.

Golf Tournament “The Big Kahuna”-will be held July 3rd at Cambrian Hills. The Little Kahuna to be held in September. Date is to be determined.

Old Business -do not have to file taxes till next year. We’re waived this year due to recent non-profit status.

Chamber of Commerce sent information on doing an advertisement but it was very expensive. Members feel it would not benefit.
Chamber also sent information regarding: Inductions into business hall of fame- Friday April 18 at Sunnehanna. Cost is $175.
Cambria County Chamber of Conference-Annual Dinner is on March 19,2008. NCABA hasn’t attended as a group in the past. Sponsorships available. Annual dinner cost is $ 40. Info is available if needed.

Pennsylvania Highlands Community College- Spring Gala will be held on Friday March 28, 2008 at the Pasquerilla Center in Downtown Johnstown. Cocktail hour to start at 6pm. Dinner at 7pm. Cost is $100 per person. Different sponsorships available- start at $250. This is for the opening of the Richland location.

NCABA’s 5th year anniversary is this year. Ideas of a possible banquet and awards ceremony were discussed. Looking at holding event in November/ December.

Chuck Contres discussed that a local Minister wanted to have an appreciation dinner for the alliance and businesses in the area to say thanks for being here.

Next Meeting will be held on March 26, 2008 3:30pm at the Spangler American Legion.
