NCABA
Regular Meeting The meeting was called to order by Jeff Lantzy at 3:35 p.m. Those in attendance included Sam Taranto (DSC and Spangler Legion), Barb Kirby (FNB), Donna Zerbee (AmeriServ), Chuck Contres (Long-Contres Funeral Home), Ernest Sekerak (X-Cel Physical Therapy), Suzanne McCombie (Mainline Newspapers), Gabby Persio (Miners Medical Center and Goodfella’s Family Dining), Tim Whited (Al’s Tire/Cambria County Planning Commission), Fran Filkins (HealthSouth), and Jeff Lantzy (Jeff Lantzy Insurance). Financial Report The minutes were reviewed. Chuck Contres made a motion to accept the minutes; Barb Kirby seconded. All were in favor Balance in the
account $5,141.29 The financial report was noted. Membership Report Tim Whited reported that there are approximately 105 members. Regarding membership drive – it was decided that the membership committee will take out an ad instead of doing a second mailing. Members Expo $750 received in sponsorships. 17 members have confirmed to attend so far. There will be two full page ads in the Star-Courier, Mainliner and Mountaineer-Herald costing $375 per week. The ads will be in place of the placemats and billboards. Invitations were sent out and faxes were done. There were no results from the second fax. April 4th is the deadline for sponsorships. The goal was to have 95% of the members. Vendor registration is April 30th. Sponsors will be included in the advertising. Career Fair The committee will be meeting next Wednesday to discuss. Economic Committee Pennsylvania Highlands Community College reception was overlooked. It was discussed to contribute to their next fundraiser as we were too late for this one. Lori Goss Blake has come up with a package to maintain the website. She offered us a package of $250 donation to maintain our own domain website; $200 without our own domain. Christina Shoemaker made a motion to secure our own domain for our website; Sam Taranto seconded it. All were in favor. Fran Filkins will communicate with Lori on obtaining the website. As of now www.ncaba.com and www.ncaba.org are unavailable. An invitation was received for a Local Government Opportunity Forum and Reception on April 2nd. It appears to be more geared to governments. It was recommended that we contact all the governments we have an email for and inform them of this opportunity. Scholarship Gerry Checkon will need to be contacted to see if she is still interested in belonging to the NCABA and if she will be willing to give us the information on the scholarship. It was noted that Gerry is no longer working with Laurel Crest Manor and she was the chairman of the scholarship committee and contributed to the NCABA at almost every activity. Other committee members include: Kim Mason, Lynn Watt, and Erin Gabany. The committee will need to meet and give a report on the status. Suzanne McCombie from Mainline Newspapers offered to do a story on the scholarship. Golf July 3rd will be the Big Kahuna Open; September 12th is the Little Kahuna. More information will follow. Miners Medical Center Fundraiser Plans are moving forward for the “Health and Wealth Gala”. More details to follow. Dance The dance was not a success. New Business Christine Shoemaker reported that the county is testing the internet system. It is not operational at this time. NCABA members will have an opportunity for an advertising package on the website. More details will be in the newsletter. All events of the NCABA have been reviewed since its induction. Correspondence was reviewed. Membership in EABC was reviewed. With no further business, Tim Whited made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Sam Taranto seconded the motion. All were in favor. The April NCABA meeting will be held Wednesday, April 23rd, 4 p.m. at Cambrian Hills Country Club.
